I was reading a book as I started to think about danish national broadcasting radio and the quality of danish radio in general. I came to the conclusion: Danish radio only have one channel that is worth listening to, P6 Beat.

I was still missing more talking and discussions about the music. What’s the underlying theme of a certain track from The Smiths? I’ve always been fascinated with the lyrics Matt Berninger writes, what does he mean? How did Bowie come up with that sound? And so on. Just as I was thinking that, the show “Album” with Kristian Leth and Ralf Christensen started. They play complete classic albums, talk about it in between the tracks, and it’s exactly what I was looking for! How weird is that? I love music nerds…

I strongly suggest that you tune in to P6 beat every Saturday between 13-15 – it’s so chill and inspirational. These shows already aired, you can listen to them online, but unfortunately not as podcast(!):

Sunday 7th August I’m going to NPG Festival in Copenhagen to see Maceo Parker, Chaka Khan, Janelle Monae, Nikka Costa and PRINCE. I was at his gig not so long ago at Amager bio also in Copenhagen, where he gave us the most insane funky dance concert. He went on around 2 am, almost no vocals, lot’s of jam, and not a single one of the 1000 in the audience weren’t dancing!

I can’t wait to see him and of course Maceo Parker(!). Didn’t get to see Janelle Monae at Roskilde Festival, who I was told did a magnificent concert, so I’m looking forward experiencing her as well. (You wanna know how much I paid? 100 kr / 20 $)

Plug in a decent pair of speakers, turn up the volume and get up and dance.

I read about this journal/blog on Kitsunenoir.com (the fox is black) almost a year ago, but forgot all about it, until I fell over my notes just seconds ago. It’s absolutely astonishing. I can’t understand how I forgot.

Grain & Gram – The New Gentleman’s Journal, is posting features and interviews with craftsmen and artist about their work and passion. Rarely have I seen a blog that is made so beautifully and with so thorough articles. The photographs are magnificent as well as the videos. I must admit, I have no idea whether it’s still running or not, because they, for some unknown reason, choose not to date their posts. Anyway, go check it out – maybe we are lucky to get some more.

I love the combination of the small illustrations and images in circles!

The images and video are from one of the features on the website. I suggest you pour yourself a big cup of coffee before jumping in, you wont be able to let it go again.

This blog is not about terror, therefore I will not begin to discuss the events, even though I have a lot on my heart about the matter of him and his trial. His propaganda should by any means be stopped, so that he won’t encourage weak souls to do what he did. One thing we can do to stop that, is to destroy his “manifest”.

Newsgraphics on the massacre: Since the horrible events occurred on Friday, I have been busy, trying to cover the case at Ritzaus Bureau. With both my colleagues on vacation, I was obviously pretty busy scrambling to make sense of the whole happening.

I contacted the Swedish Graphic Bureau for help, and luckily they where able to send me some stuff I could use. Without their aid, my coverage of the case would have been a bit thin:

In my opinion, Thomas Dybdahl is one of the most talented songwriters in the Scandinavian music scene. Influenced by the tradition of American folk-rock from the 70s, his sound is like no other at the moment. I regularly listen to Dybdahl while reading or doing the dishes, and was lucky to see him and his band several times in Copenhagen.
He’s out with a new album and I just came across this wonderful concert for you to watch.

Frasier: No! I find her cousin Jen just a bit judgmental for my taste. Yesterday she told me my show was bourgeois. I pointed out that anything that had mass appeal could be said to be bourgeois. She then said that my argument was bourgeois. Which I found to be jejune.

Niles: People in their twenties are always like that. The world is so daunting at that age. They comfort themselves with the idea that everything’s just trash. We were like that in medical school. Acting as if we were above it all, smarter than everybody. It passes.

I’ve had oh so many lousy cappuccinos in Copenhagen, that I over time have started ordering cortados or americanos instead (these can be done horrible as well). So I guess I needed this to remind me how beautiful and delicious a cappuccino can look. It’s art in a cup, the machine is amazing, and his skills are an absolute perfect match.

This video is the last in a series of 3 which takes place at Intelligentsia Coffee in Venice, California. The D4D are portraying passionate enthusiast doing what they do best.

An original web series that profiles individuals who have the amazing ability to stand out and create something passionately original. Their drive and expertise often reinvigorates something familiar into a newly minted phenomenon.

I will go out and find a place where they will be able to serve me a decent cappuccino, which I so much need after this.
