An Astonishing Journal for Gentlemen

I read about this journal/blog on Kitsunenoir.com (the fox is black) almost a year ago, but forgot all about it, until I fell over my notes just seconds ago. It’s absolutely astonishing. I can’t understand how I forgot.
Grain & Gram – The New Gentleman’s Journal, is posting features and interviews with craftsmen and artist about their work and passion. Rarely have I seen a blog that is made so beautifully and with so thorough articles. The photographs are magnificent as well as the videos. I must admit, I have no idea whether it’s still running or not, because they, for some unknown reason, choose not to date their posts. Anyway, go check it out – maybe we are lucky to get some more.
I love the combination of the small illustrations and images in circles!

The images and video are from one of the features on the website. I suggest you pour yourself a big cup of coffee before jumping in, you wont be able to let it go again.

Concrete, beauty and a silhouette

These images of Ann-Katrin is some of the most beautiful and alluring moments caught on camera I have seen in a long time. I noted in particular the lights, shadows, her small dancing elegant feet, the curves and the absence of her face. Mysterious. Almost a bit hypnotic i think.
For whom these few images isn’t enough, check out her naked style, and be sure to also see her photographer, Tue Juelsbo’s portfolio.
FYI. She’s wearing:
dress/rick owens
dress/lalaberlin
gymshoes/repetto
body/la perla
featherskirt/benedikte utzon showpiece
heels/christian louboutin

Flickr find: Dan Mountford

The artworks by Dan Mountford is fantastic. He created these beautiful photos using double exposure with his camera, and had almost no help by Photoshop (except for colors). Check out his flickr page, where you can order print!

Movies in one frame
A Single Man (2009)
Bambi (1942)
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Have a look at this great idea! – Some guy turned intire movies into single images. The result is a beautiful set of color schemes. Maybe it can be used for designing artwork.

Snaps from Amsterdam

20 snaps from 5 days in Amsterdam with Anders Beck. We had the pleasure of my friend Crystels company. She was kind enough to offer us a place to stay, furthermore she and her kind friends showed us around. I love Amsterdam. I posted a couple photos from my mobile at phonephotography.tumblr.com.

Rune Guneriussen

I think Norwegian artist Rune Guneriussen deserves a mention. I’m especially fond of the series “A natural selection” – These moody, mystic and colourful images are absolutely beautiful. I would like have the to above hanging in my living room. See more of his work at his website, and follow him on twitter.

Conceptual photography in Berlin

I’m a big fan of conceptual photography and a huge fan of Berlin. Mixed by photographer Matthias Heiderich resulted in these amazing images below. Beautiful colors, lines, light, mood. Check out his portfolio at Behance. Most of his work is for sale. Five different shots would suit my hall quite well.

Slaraffenklang – a free album on a rainy Monday
I can not believe I missed this! I have been listening to Efterklang for a while, and I have become a big fan. Apparently they played in Pumpehuset with Slaraffenland a while ago. I read about the concert at a relatively new, but awesome blog called The Bistro. You should definitely give it a try, great food and splendid service – Do not worry about you not having the time, it is open for you 24 hours a day.
Also, check out the man behind the post: Photographer Kenneth Nguyen. He took some great photos at the concert, and has an awesome portfolio, recently updated with photos from the Distortion festival in Copenhagen.
Here is a tasty bite from the concert:

What defines heroism? Superman? Fidel Castro? Afghan resistance fighters? Our soldiers in Afghanistan? Captain America? Heinrich Himmler? Where does one cross over from heroism to terrorism? Where is the line separating freedom from oppression? Protagonist or antagonist? What lengths do we go to gain that bit of ego inflation?
