One of my favorite actors: Sean Penn
Filmography 2010 x Nick Holmberg

How To Train Your Dragon
It’s great to see an animated film from DreamWorks capable of competing with Pixar or Miyazaki. Even though there still is a gap in quality.

The Town
It seems like Ben Affleck is turning into a better director than he was an actor. And he has started acting better, when he is directing himself. How that is possible is beyond me. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

Family Guy Presents: It’s a Trap
Seth Macfarlane is continuing the tradition of spoofing a Star Wars film every year. It’s not as funny as the first spoof, but this was the film with most laughs for me this year. Also check out Seth Green‘s Robot Chicken.

Shutter Island
I had a lot of minor problems with this. The exposition in the beginning really annoyed me and the film is way to long. But it is another good film from Scorsese. As always he delivers. The acting and cinematography is great and the film has a lot of depth.

Iron man 2
I think it was a weak year in the classic blockbuster department. There where no really great action film like The Dark Knight or Watchmen, but Iron man 2 was the best we got, and it’s actually pretty good.

Toy Story 3
Even though I got a bit tired of the praise it got this summer you can’t get around that it’s a really good film. As always Pixar is a safe bet and it was great to get the ending to the story.

Submarino
This film will not end up on a lot of lists because it’s a depressing danish social-realism film. Too bad. It’s excellent! Thomas Vinterberg is back with his best film since Festen. To be honest I think I might actually like this one more.

Armadillo
It’s been several years since I’ve had a danish film on my yearly list. This year I have two. Armadillo got a crazy buzz this summer which is great, but the controversy some people talked about wasn’t really there for me. A great look into the war in Afghanistan.

Inception
This film also had a crazy buzz going this summer. And it deserves it. I think Nolan will be remembered as one of this generations best directors. This proves that after The Dark Knight, the studios seems to trust him with their money, which will turn out great for us in the coming years.

The Social Network
It’s been years since I’ve had a cinema experience like this! Thanks to Aaron Sorkin the story is interesting, with some great dialogue. The music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross sets the mood. It was so good I had to buy the soundtrack on my phone on the way home from the cinema. And the cinematography is mind blowing. I can’t praise this film enough. Oh and by the way: The twins are one actor! What?!
2010 has come to an end, and the award season is beginning. This is a great time to be a film fan. (It’s also time to make the yearly top 10 list of my favorite films.) When doing a top 10 list, you of course have to set the rules. For my list I like to go by the release date from IMDB. Which means many of the films are not out in Denmark yet. I have yet to see Black Swan, True Grit, The Next Three Days, 127 Hours, The King’s Speech and The Fighter. I expect 3-4 of these to end up on my final list. (And I have properbly missed another great film or two.)

Gudmindrup beach

This weekend I spent at the new family summerhouse in Højby. Mixed weather gave me bad colors, so I stole them from the photos. Ha! Do not worry, I will bombard you guys with snaps from our new idyllic place. Natural ground, deers, buzzards and hares literally just outside the window of this lovely house. Can not wait to spend summer days here.

EYE’am proud of my tumblr

I have been thinking a lot about mobile photography and my tumblr blog, the last couple of days. I was contacted by an old friend, who told me about the EYE’EM mobile photography award, which is “an international competition dedicated to the rise of mobile phone photography as a new artform.” All the winning images will be exhibited in an Award Exhibition in Schlechtriem gallery in Berlin around June, and a book will be produced. Looking through the competitors I can see, that there are amazing photographers in the competition. So many beautiful images.
For me it is not about megapixels, sharpness or colors. That can be done with a big, clumsy Nikon. It is about moments.
See my contributions after the jump. Thank you for following my tumblr. It means a great deal to me! Oh, and keep sending photos…

Festival of colors
A couple of weeks ago Holli, also called the Festival of Colors, where held in India. It’s a spring festival celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and others. They are making huge bondfires and trowing colors at each other, and It is absolutely beautiful in pictures! Every year I wait for Boston Picture to update their BIG PICTURE. I just love the colors and white smiles on the large pictures. I have shared those I think was best, and also a couple from my two best friends travel in India back in 2006. Enjoy!

The “Bal des Ardents”

Saturday I attended a crazy fun party at a friend of mine. She held a Masqurade party which is always big fun. Some wore beautiful masks, hilarious, and some creative fun masks. I came with a splendid classical mask which I borrowed from a friend. All in all a great photo opportunity, and I just wanted to share some of the snaps with you, because I think they are pretty awesome. For those who attended the party or others who might like them, they are available for download here. (link expires 1/6-2010)

The Oscar goes to…

“Audrey Hepburn is sitting beside her mother in the audience, the 24-year-old star of Roman Holiday nervously nibbles a finger as she waits to hear who will take home Best Actress in 1954.”
So, tonight the annual Academy Awards are held. Personally, I haven’t seen as many of the nominated movies as I used to. It looks like Avatar might pull a couple of statuettes; Best Picture, Visual effects etc. For me, I think it’s exciting to see if danish Anders Østergaard and Lise Lense-Møller’s Burma VJ can pull one for best documentary, it certainty was interesting. Regarding the show tonight, and the people surrounding it, I think that it’s safe to say, that the people in the film-industry are far from as charismatic and glamorous as they where. LIFE magazine published the images I posted here, which I think is fantastic. Enjoy the show!

Phonephotography

Let me beat the drum for my other blog phonephotography.tumblr.com. Since october last year, I have been busy posting about 300 mobile photos. The thoughts behind is really quite simple. You have your mobile with you all the time, it’s small, handy, discreet and I think that the outcome often gets pretty great. Everyone can do it – it’s fun and free, so find the phonephotographer within you and snap! (Oh! And send the best of them to phonephotography@tumblr.com)

I just got 60 mobile snaps processed for 60 kr. It fells great!
My inside spy

I don’t think I have ever told you guys about one of my favorite websites/blogs. The site is sort of a place where I go when I feel like I’m in a dreamy mood. Many of you might know it since it’s not a “new thing on the web” or anything, but The Selby has been a weekly thing for me for quite some time now. The man behind, Todd Selby is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator. He started The Selby back in the summer 2008, and he is like an inside spy of creative people in their personal spaces. He meet so many amazing people, in magnificent homes – Check it out. (read about Todd in “About Selby”)
Nicklas – Oh, and sorry about the lack of posts.
UPDATE!
Paragraffen

Today I went by a friend from school. Theis has been working as a designer for Paragraffen in Scala for a while now. Paragraffen is also selling clothes in Studiestræde in Copenhagen. Well, to be honest, it’s not my style of clothes, but if your interested in cool streetwear, this is the place! Anyway, with a beautiful view over Tivoli, shelves full of funny toys, super sharp graffiti on the walls, I believe the two designers are having a great time there.

Fashionweek, Santé!

After some very early mornings and late night hours, the fashionweekend in Copenhagen is finally over. A friend of mine, Gigi called me and asked if my brother and I wanted to help him out as showroom models/waterboys at Hotel Skt. Petri. Gigi is selling the brand Frankie Morello from Milano, which made some really sleek designs with some flippant details for this collection, I loved it! It’s becoming a tradition working for him during the fashion week, and I am enjoying the company of the team. It’s been a fantastic mix of insomnia, sun, beautiful people in copenhagen, delicious food and tasty wines, late talks, laughter, parties and nice clothes. I have posted some random snaps from the Skt. Petri, the showroom and from some restaurants.
