Os Gémeos and BLU

creol

This must be the most amazing street art I have seen in a long time. I must admit, that Os Gémeos is new to mee, but BLU was on blogs worldwide with his animated art on youtube, which was pretty cool. This time they go big in Lisbon. You can view the images in fullscreen at his website.

Thief with taste: Art worth 100 million euros gone in 15 minutes

Le pigeon aux petits pois. Pablo Picasso. 1912

Early Thursday a thief cut a padlock over and then broke in through a window to Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris. After 15 minutes he could leave the museum again, with these beautiful artworks, and no one had discovered what was afoot.
I would not mind having one of them on my white walls on Musvågevej. But who would.

What defines heroism? Superman? Fidel Castro? Afghan resistance fighters? Our soldiers in Afghanistan? Captain America? Heinrich Himmler? Where does one cross over from heroism to terrorism? Where is the line separating freedom from oppression? Protagonist or antagonist? What lengths do we go to gain that bit of ego inflation?

26.500 km/h past the sun

http://legault.perso.sfr.fr

On Saturday, a man can sit in Niederbipp in Switzerland taking a photo of space shuttle blasting 26.500 km/h past the sun, 390 km above earth. Sunday, you and I can sit with our evening coffee and by a single click enjoy the magnificent visuals. Is that fascinating?
The images are by French NASA Astrophotographer Thierry Legault. Legault became know on almost every blog (except mine) about a year ago, when he managed to catch Atlantis, just as it passed in front of the sun, providing these stunningly clear silhouette of the space shuttle. (images blow)

Make sure that you check out Legaults website, where photos in full resolution can be viewed and downloaded.

Quadron and Coco

quadron

Wow. This must be the longest postponed post in blogging history. At the music event Stella Polaris LAST YEAR at the National Gallery of Art in Copenhagen one artist amazed me: Quadron. It had some funky, Motown jazzy grooves, and the voice of 21 year old Coco blew me away. She is absolutely magnificent. Behind the group is also Robin Hannibal, who has a long and impressive CV, counting collaboration with Nobody Beats The Beats, Aloe Blacc, Omas Keith from SA-RA and many others. I definitely think they have international strength.

Chantila Jewelry

Sarah Fyllgraf

My friend Sarah is currently living in London. A few days ago she was spectating a photo shoot for the jewelry firm Chantila, and sent me a couple of beautiful photos from the studio. Apparently Chantila is an old family business with origin in the middle east. Now they have their flag-store on Bank street in London, which is a street famous for luxury and especially expensive jewelry. The jewelries was guarded by two security men, and transported back and forth from the store in safety-boxes. 26 year old irish Rosanna Davidsen, former Miss. World, was model on the photo shoot. Breathtaking jewelries starting at 2,3 mio. dollars. and haute couture dresses. I think Sarah is enjoying her stay in the british capital.

Liquid Mountaineering

Liquid Mountaineering

For centuries, humans have been trying to solve the puzzle: How did Mr. Jesus walk on water? These guys seems to think they know how. They started a “new” sport called Liquid Mountaineering, which is basically running on water. I was laughing my ass off when I saw it. Who is up for the challenge at Amager strandpark this summer?

The sport is all about running on water. Science tells us that with the right angle and speed anything can bounce off the surface of water for some time before it sinks. The perfect example is of a rock that when thrown with the right amount of speed, spin and angle, it starts bouncing on water and touches the surface many times before sinking. If we could follow the same set of rules that enable the rock to bounce, we can bounce too.

Fake or not. I think it is hilarious.

The Black Bob Dylan

See that black boy over there, runnin’ scared
his ol’ man’s in a bottle.
He done quit his 9 to 5 to drink full time
so now he’s livin’ in the bottle.

Stevie Wonder decided to visit all governors in every state in the US, to convince them to make Martin Luther Kings birthday a national day. He did it on one condition: Gil Scott-Heron was to make him company. This artist, poet, human rights defender is no small fish, and tonight, the old fellow is playing in Vega!
A long time ago, I got a compilation CD from a friend of mine: “Return Of The Pusherman – Hustlin’ Soul”. I really liked the funky album and I strongly suggest you buying it. One number made me rock my feet more than the others: “The Bottle” by Gil and Brian Jackson, which I have shared with you below. I also posted a one minute clip from an interview with him. It is good warm up. Enjoy.

The Little Mermaid on holiday

copyrights iwan.com

I know it has been a while since the first pictures and reviews from the Expo 2010 in Shanghai came. Nevertheless I shortly want to make a tribute to the danish pavilion. The architects behind, BIG, did an amazing job representing Denmark. Our pavilion is stunning. The visitors can jump onto our city bikes on the rooftop, and peddle through the pavilion, where they can see the original statue of the Little Mermaid from H.C. Andersens stories. She is placed in water from the harbor in Copenhagen, clean enough to take a swim. I would love to see this and some of the other works in Shanghai.

BIG celebrates the grand opening of the Danish Expo Pavilion 2010

The Danish Pavilion at Shanghai’s World Expo 2010 designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group opens to the public today.

The Danish pavilion at EXPO 2010 will give visitors the opportunity to try some of the best aspects of Danish city life themselves. Through interaction, the visitors are able to actually experience some of Copenhagen’s best attractions – the city bike, the harbor bath, playground settings, a picnic on the roof garden and the opportunity to see the authentic H.C Andersen’s Little Mermaid.

Stoffer & Maskinen

stoffer og maskinen copyright

Above I posted the music video for the danish band Stoffer & Maskinen‘s “Vi To Er Smeltet Sammen”. I saw the young guys 1. May in Fælledparken in the SF-tent, and I found them pretty cool live. I have been following their blog for a while, and thought I would share it with you. I think they are a fresh blow to the danish music scene, and I kind of like the video. It suits the music really well, but the ending I would have done differently.

Before going out

In my opinion it is important that you are able to look after your fellow citizens. It is important that you can provide your help if it is needed. Nevertheless I tend to forget some of the details I got in a lifesaving-course a year ago. This might help me remember. Before going out tonight. Watch and remember.

We don’t bleed when we don’t fight

There’s no savin’ anything
Now we’re swallowin’ the shine of the sun
There’s no savin’ anything
From the shine of the sun

An amazing lead singer (Matt Berning), a trombone player and a trumpet player on an early morning radio interview. Do I have to say more? Listen.
(Why are there not more like this on our public radio? )
Anyway, so I got their newly released album “High Violet”, and everything about it is amazing. The song above and pretty much everything about The National is perfect. When I listen to the melancholic and sad songs I fell like crying and yet laughing. Each song I am fighting numerous fights and winning them in the end. Sadness and hope. I would absolutely love to hear them live one day.
