Let’s honor good food

Images from The Food Snob

http://foodsnobblog.wordpress.com

A couple of years ago I got around 2000 danish kroner back in tax, which I spend at Ensemble in Copenhagen. A gourmet experience of a lifetime, even though Ensemble was “only” awarded one Michelin star. I can not even begin to imagine eating at the worlds best, and there is no way I can afford eating at Noma in the nearest future. I guess the restaurant will be booked years ahead now, so a table will be impossible to get anyway.

Since I did not taste the food at Noma, I will not try to explain why they managed to top S. Pellegrino’s annual “World’s 50 Best Restaurants”. Read this amazing review at The Food Snob and see more wonderful images there. It is definitely not just food. It is art, and if it tastes halfway as good as it looks … mmmh.
Congratulations to René Redzepi and his team

Hello ladies

We’re not saying this body wash will make your man smell into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are insinuating it.

Upular

Since I heard this remix from pogo for the first time last week, I haven’t been able to get it of my mind. It simply sum up the entire movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do! Pixar rules.

Speed of Light (updated)

Alright, so this is two parts all the parts in a series of four in a documentary from UVA, which I have mentioned on the blog before, about their forthcoming exhibition “Speed of Light”. I will post the last part when it is available. Anyway, UVA were commissioned by Virgin Media to create a light installation celebrating 10 years of broadband in the UK. Speed of Light will be a series of experimental light works flowing through the spaces of the Bargehouse, a four-storey industrial space on the South Bank in London. If your in London between April 9th – April 19th, I think you should go and see the exhibition. UVA has the habit of doing things extraordinary! Free admission.

An elephant never forgets

zoo2
zoo3

In 2008 the new elephant house in Copenhagen zoo finished. I’ve only seen it from “frederiksberg have” but after I came across these architectural drawings, models and pictures, I have to kidnap a child this summer and get going. Although, it’s a shame for these big beautiful animals to be confined, these architectural buildings is amazing.
The great architects behind this project is Foster + Partners (This site i worth a vistit!).

Art, schizophrenia and surrealism at Sneakbar

First Friday of each month, Cinemateket in Copenhagen are showing 3-4 short films at the event Sneakbar. The films are usually great fun and made by young writers, directors and artists with financial support by “The Danish Film Institute”. Last night, yet again, I went to Sneakbar and the films where so great. This time it was about art, dramatic romances and an image of the archetype of Copenhagen youth in Anton Breums “Painting Heart”; escalating schizophrenia and social criticism in Tim Kaas’ “Sick” and a surrealistic weird but hilarious film about an older man who revolutionized a fish shop in Martin Kogis “Hunters & gatherers.” The last one was so crazy and yet so fun. A film you would think of for days.
I really recommend you guys to go and visit Cinemateket, if you are in the neighborhood. Oh, and it’s free – Yay!

Too much wine last night

After a couple of days with music and wine, I think that an animated infographic about the conception of wine is soothing to share with you. I have posted about these type of videos before, and I know, that it’s not rockets science, but I find it quite fun to watch. I think animating infographics are a great way to persuade the audience to listen to a story. The video is made for a school project by Tiago Cabaco.

This is why I blog

I just bought danish Efterklang’s album “Magic Chairs” and was completely blown away – fantastic album. I heard the first song Modern Drift and thought: “This I can totally use in the film I recorded in the fall with my Astral camera!” Then I searched for videos by Efterklang, and a magical music video by Kristian Leth came on screen, and almost made me cry. Easy now, I am pretty damn sure, what I recorded in Frederiksberg Garden in the fall, is not nearly as beautiful as Jørgen Leths recordings, but this post is exactly why I blog anyway. If I could not express and share my excitement for magical things I come across, I would explode. I can only hope, that at least a few of my readers are thrilled by some of the things I love and share, and more importantly, that it inspires and makes them wonder. Turn up the speaker and go full screen. Enjoy the beauty of nature and music. Have a great night.

Oh! Btw. The cover of the album are amazing as well – I wan’t it on vinyl!

I judge a book by its cover

I must admit, that I am the kind of person who generally gets manipulated by beautiful packaging. When it comes to wine, books and food, I normally choose the more tasteful or even beautiful package (Well, of course I also chose recommended books and music, and also if I know the author is remarkable). If I read a book, I get irritated if the cover is inappropriate, I can’t explain why. The worst thing about the hilarious and great book “Populærmusik fra Vittula” by Mikael Niemi, which I just finished, is the hideous cover.
The cover above must be my favorite; I love the vintage photo combined with the handwritten tittle in the black cloud, and also the contrast between the book-spine and the front. It fits perfect! More about Natalie Smith, who designed the cover, her thoughts behind and more images at faceoutbooks.com

Sunny easter in Copenhagen

Just wanted to kick of a sunny easter in Copenhagen with Ginger Ninjas first single: Sunshine. Nothing new! – Just spring and sunshine in your ears. I will spend the rest of the day in the sun at the lakes and afterwards a lunch with friends. I hope you all will enjoy your vacation. Oh! Remember to thank me for the weather…. It’s my birthday tomorrow. Yay!
