An excuse for throwing away ideas

I love this. If you’re bored at work or just brainstorming bad ideas, you can just crumble up a piece of paper and you can play soccer, rugby, or throw a tennis ball in your garbage basket. Made by dutch design company Trapped in suburbia.

We ♥ colors
Wow. This video is putting me to sleep tonight! I love the blank paper surface, and the way the 3D is emerging from it. So many magnificent colors and scenes. It’s called White Box by Makoto Yabuki. Sleep tight.

We ate something called “Sol over Gudhjem”

Last week I saw a part of the country I haven’t seen before. I went to the eastern part of Denmark and these photos is a small collection of pictures from this trip, displaying the various experiences this island has to offer. Bornholm, as you might have guessed is the place. Denmark’s only rocky-island gives you rough and wild scenery, but it also contains some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. I didn’t see any “Bornholmer-ure” but I did get a taste of Bornholms “national dish” called “sol over gudhjem” which, basically is a smoked herring with raw egg yolk and onions or chives on a piece of rye bread, yummy..

Debacle

A couple of weeks ago Nike Skateboarding launched a HD video project where people could download the first ever high-definition skateboarding video! I was on vacation last week so unfortunately I only had time to download the video myself and not share this wonderful information with our followers. Nike’s “Debacle”, could be downloaded for free at 720p, 480p or for the iPod but only for a limited period! (8 days or so) The incredible footage, was shot and edited in 10 months, and the 24-minute video features amateurs Justin Brock, Daryl Angel, David Clark, Grant Taylor, Shane O’Neill and Theotis Beasley, but in my opinion these guys are no amateurs. Check out the video from behind the scenes.

Let’s honor the effort
Let’s set the week of with a fun commercial from Barclays Bank. What..? … A nice bank commercial? Yep, this one, I got from some twitter, and it actually made me giggle and not throw up. I like the part where he tries to run down to the subway or when he smashes into the big wall. With the danger of being mocked and as nerdy as it may sound, it reminds me of “The Matrix”, which was a film I was a big fan of. Created by the agency: Venables Bell & Partners. Creative Directors: Paul Venables, Tom Scharpf. It seems like Barcleys Bank isn’t saving money on advertising. View more great ads with actors like Anthony Hopkins and Samuel L. Jackson after the jump!

Jon Klassen

As I shortly mentioned in the prior post, I was fascinated by the illustrator Jon Klassen. I knew I had heard his name before, and it hit me that he was a part of a remarkable stop-motion animated film called Coraline. Directed by Henry Selick, the man behind “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, and produced at Laika Inc. in Portland, Oregon. I am so drawn to his mysterious fairytale style. The texture and colours in his drawings are so beautiful I can’t wait to see the movie. Be good to yourself and browse his website, I think he’s an absolutely stunning illustrator!

Every Beauty Needs To Go Out With An Idiot

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine send me this cool U2 video. I love love love the moody illustrations, the colours, the animation and the storytelling. If your machine and connection is though enough, go and see the video in HD. Jon Klassen is the artist behind the illustrations. David O’Reilly, who was on every blog a while ago with iHologram for iPhone, was creative director on the video. Oh – And U2 is still just amazing!
Wow, Jon Klassen almost deserves a post. Coming up!

Roma è davvero bella

My friend Sara went to Rome a while ago, and she sent me some really cozy spring photos I have been meaning to share with you for a while. Maybe it’s because I’m dreaming away to warm and beautiful places. Well, I’m looking forward to a week in Berlin in a couple of weeks. Yay!
I think this is a beautiful way to start the weekend. Sunday should be warm and sunny!

Polaroid snap

It’s been almost a year since I bought my Polaroid cam on a flee market in Berlin. Figured I would celebrate with a share of some memorable snaps. My friend Kris (en7oy/fyvm) just ordered some new films for me over eBay. In a few weeks I’m heading for Berlin again, hoping to find me a new cam.

Bad squirrel good stop motion
I’m no big Coldplay fan, but stop motion and their recently published music video for “Strawberry Swing”, I’m a huge fan of! Chris Martin has become a superhero in a colorful world of schoolyard chalk. There not much more to say than enjoy and Yay! He finally got that stupid squirrel! Enjoy the beautiful illustrations and please… view the thing in full screen(!)

A tale of two spreads
This Infographic video, wich actually isn’t that full of information, is pretty fun. The retro storytelling voice and music is so nice and soothing, and the illustrations are super. Anyway, it’s not a fantastic important video, but it made me smile anyway. I think I’ll make a sandwich with a good layer of the right spread.

It’s pretty quiet at the bureau and the rain is flushing from the sky. So I thought instead of doing a stupid rain-dance I would share a drawing to make the storm currently over Denmark go away. I sure hope it will help. Sun stay strong, don’t be gone to long. Well, you guys might as well get the best out of it, read a book and enjoy this dreamy mixtape by the black fox. Thanks to Bobby for letting us be cozy inside and dreaming away to Paris. (The mixtape is easy to play in Itunes)
