Carving Her Way Through The Dance Floor
Whether it’s about the weather, the music or the beers the topic Roskilde Festival is unavoidable. These days the Festival is on everyones lips and it’s also on mine. The weather speaks for itself, the beers as well. I’m looking forward to Nick Cave and these folks:

Lover not a fighter

I spend most of the night watching CNN and most of the day working on a graphic about MJ. I have to say that I’m pretty satisfied with it after all. The illustrations could use some more time as well as the justification in the text – but the mood, colors and the feeling in the graphic I think is worhty for a king. (What do you think of this?) Well well. Now I deserve a vacation! A week full of sun, friends and amazing music at Roskilde!

Skt. Hans, balloons and summer

As many others I had the pleasure of a great fire, songs, chatting and company of old and some new friends last night, celebrating Skt. Hans in Frederiksberg Gardens. Today I enjoyed an cold vanilla sirup ice coffee at Tjilipop (Slurp!) in Ranzausgade, with the company of Lorenzo, Krommes, Anders, Sarah and Kamille + friends. Mobile snaps after the jump!

Lufthansa Brand Academy

This has to be one of the most mindblowing videos i’ve seen this year. Berlin-based interactive firm Whitevoid has made this data visualization for Lufthansa’s Brand Academy in Frankfurt. A 14 meter wide 180 degrees projection let´s the visitors feel like flying around like Superman with this fully navigable, realtime 3D visualization of 16000 daily Lufthansa and Star Alliance flights. The sound is enginered by Robert Henke of Monolake. You have to watch this in full screen!

Mili and Pablo

Photographer Gjon Mili visited Pablo Picasso back in 1949, and showed him some of his photographs of ice skaters with tiny lights affixed to their skates jumping in the dark. Pablo was greatly inspired and art arose. After the jump follows some of his beautiful light drawings. I think they are amazing!
Btw. Just fell over his full name: “Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Mártir Patricio Ruiz y Picasso”

Graphic sellers

Many of you helped me with a infographic last week about “studenterhuerne”. I wrote that I hoped to see the graphic in some of the newspapers the next day. I was able to find it in about 5-6 papers, so I’m pretty satisfied with that. Especially I think the page layout was VERY well in Tuesdays Metroxpress. Photos around and placed in a corner where the students will be able to ripp or cut it off. My boss tells me that these type of graphics always is selling great. Well here are some shots of this weeks best sellers. Thanks for helping me, and thanks for the heads up Phil.

The Story of Adi Dassler

This is the story of Adolf “Adi” Dassler, founder of adidas, and one of the most original thinkers of our time. I love this video, with the special composition, the museum parts and small scale filming. The stop-motion film is made by roughly 4800 frames, at an average of 1 hour shooting time per second of footage and it took the skills of 30 animation experts a month to build. I can watch this over and over again. The music is made by Czech Symphony orchestra and the story is narrated by german actor Jürgen Prochnow. Enjoy.

Devotion

Check out this extremist man! This monk, Hua Chi has been praying in the same spot at his temple in Tongren, China for over 20 years. The first couple of years he said his prayers in average of 3000 times a day! his footprints, which are up to 1.2 inches deep in some areas, are the result of all the prayers. Now that he is 70, he says that he has greatly reduced his quantity of prayers to 1,000 times each day. Wow was my first thought, my second thought was, hmm could I do this in Photoshop? See if you can spot the foto below! (hint: my monk is wearing pink nailpolish)
Bill wishes you a lovely monday

The first song, “Lovely Day” was sent to me on a very, very typical monday morning around 6 am from a dear friend. I was sitting on my morning shift at the bureau and a facebook message with a youtube video popped up with the message: “This might cheer you up and make you ready for a new week”.. And boy she was right about that. Every time I feel like the day sucks, I play that song. I hope it has same effect on you.

A “step” in the right direction

Roskilde Festival is comming up, here’s a little gadget I would like to have with me at the camp-site. You can simply use your feet to pump life back into your cellphone! Imagine yourself lost somewhere in the swedish wilderness, your woman is crying and hitting, you have no biscuits left and the Ribenajuice is all dried out! No worries, just pump juice back into your iphone, call for help, or order a pizza. Sure it’s eco-friendly but it demands a bit physical effort as well! The Orange Power Pump will only be availible at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, taking place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, from 24th – 28th June.

“Ålen” was kind enough to shake hands with everyone entering and leaving Imperial. He was also offering Bloody Marys and Cider. At 23.59 last night I went through the most amazingly beautiful slow-motion prologue, four gripping, disgusting, breathtaking and chocking chapters, ending with an epilogue, if possible more beautiful than the prologue. Sending me with an emotional roller coaster ride I have never experienced before. This is a movie every man with respect for art and the art of filmmaking must see, and it must be on big screen. Ålen from Zentropa, Peter Hjort, who created the visual effects and storyboard for AntiChrist, introduced and told about effects and more. goseeitnow!
