Inspired by the moving image

Until last night i had never heard of UNCLE before, but I think their music is pretty cool. Anyway the video I wan’t to show you was recorded ultimo march in the UK. It’s an atypical type of music video. The track is called Heaven which is from the 2008 UNKLE album ‘End Titles – Stories for Film”. “The music is inspired by the moving image”. Directed by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans. I feel like buying a skateboard and their album! So cool! Btw be patient it pays off in this video.

Gl. Strand, Vallekilde and Ritzau

mixed_photos

Here’s a few mix photos from the last couple of weeks. First one is from Gl. strand. Next Vallekilde Højskole where Anders Beck invited us to come and show his journalist-class a trick or two in Adobe InDesign. Vallekilde is one of Denmarks eldest “højskoler”. It’s a fantastic idyllic place, made by the architect Martin Nyrop, who is best known as the man behind “Københavns Rådhus”. The last three images are from Ritzau’s rooftop terrace where me and my three graphic colleagues enjoyed the sun and some beers last weekend.

Estadio de fútbol de mesa

table_soccer

To all the football lads who follow AD*! I guess this post is dedicated to you. It’s the next generation of table-football, designed and created to make people gather around the table. The Lightning interior contrasting the dark exterior makes it look and feel like a miniature football stadium. The 22 chrome players, along with the stadium shaped form, and the screen with replay of the goal, makes this the absolute most high-tech table-football to date. The table is made by GRO design and Tim Modelmakers based in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

CuSO4 is the new thing

Roger_Hiorns
This type of art blows me completely off my chair. In stead of making art the traditional way, Roger Hiorns turned things upside down by covering an entire appartment in London in copper sulphate. He is now nominated for a Turner Prize. I would love to see this live! I remember we made litte crystals ourselves in chemestry lessons back in school.

The scale and production of “Seizure” is ambitious. After reinforcing the walls and ceiling and covering them in plastic sheeting, 80,000 litres of a copper sulphate solution was poured in from a hole in the ceiling. After a few weeks the temperature of the solution fell and the crystals began to grow. The remaining liquid was pumped back out and sent for special chemical recycling.

El Gallo de Pacifico con iPhone

rooster

Check out my new rooster alarm clock! My brother and I went to the Adobe seminar “Rich Internet Experience Tour” in Cinemaxx, Copenhagen yesterday. Here we heard two Swedish guys talk about their projects with their branding company Perfectfools.com. Associated with that they showed a project with the mexican beer company Pacifico. Perfect fools job was to brand the beer worldwide. Beside the iPhone application you can download a screensaver with the livestreaming video of the rooster in mexico, and when it crowes, it does as well on your screen!! Just below, under “There’s more” you’ll see some more pictures of the application, and livestreaming of the most famous rooster in mexico!

Go Tweeny!

Say hello to this little fellow. Tweenbot are invented by Kacie Kinzer, who is based in New York. One day he was wondering:

“…Could a human-like object traverse sidewalks and streets along with us, and in so doing, create a narrative about our relationship to space and our willingness to interact with what we find in it? More importantly, how could our actions be seen within a larger context of human connection that emerges from the complexity of the city itself?…”

To answer those exciting questions he build this little robot, and wrote on the flag: “HELP me get to the Southwest Corner of Washington Square Park”. It’s quite cute. Do you think he’ll get to the other side of the park? Who will help him? And would this be possible in Copenhagen?(More little little friends are on their way)

Zollstock

typography

Previously we shared a post about the Periodic Table of Typefaces here on our blog, here’s a similar post with a slight difference. This is a folding ruler which has the history of the development of typography on its one side, while it has basic informations and explanations of typographic terms on it’s other side. It’s made by the German artist Carsten Prenger along with the graphic company 804 Graphic Design. I sure would like one. By the way, I learned a new word today: tommestok = folding rule, and in Germany the zimmermann calls his folding rule a  Zollstock. I like.

Skeleton boy

The past couple of weeks P3 finally started playing Friendly Fires. Therefore i think it’s time to share this great video with you. I saw it first on Bobby’s Kitsune Noir, which is one of my favorite blogs! It really shows that no matter what budget you have, creativity wins. The video is shot in a small black room, with thousands of white balls from beanbags and a couple of wind machines.
