FEDT!

After opening in december last year, galleri FEDT is now presenting their FEDT4 exhibition, this following friday. The main theme for this exhibition is, that it just has to be FEDT.
These artists will present their stuff:

Pabi Chulu (paintings)
Allan Bestle (paintings / the image above)
Mikkel Brixvold (sculpture/installation)
Henrik Steen (paintings)

You should definitely drop by the gallery between 27th february – 27th march in Nansensgade, cause if it’s as FEDT(great) as the earlier exhibitions it’s worth a peek!

Pixelcrayons – A digital square of hue that is quite sexy when they are in a large quanity of groups

Christian Faur is worth looking after. His crayon art is on many blogs these days. But he’s not just a genius with wax crayons. His portfolio is also amazing, containing a variety of many art styles.

Another day

This is a quicky. Just wanted to wake you up on this last day of weekend, with two feel good videos, which I have been saving for some time now. You might already now them, at least the first one has been on every blog on the webs the last couple of weeks, and therefore on top 10 on worlds most viewed viral-videos. But “Her Morning Elegance” I simply have to blog about – I love it!! I love when the weather is rough and when she is swimming with her socks. Have a good sunday.

It’s very easy to be different, but very difficult to be better – Jonathan Ives

How many manufactured objects did you touch this morning between waking up and leaving your apartment? Everything around us is, by some kind, related to design. The man behind the documentary Helvetica from 2007, which was about graphic design and typography, Gary Hustwit, has made a new documentary about industrial design: Objectified. The film premieres at South by Southwest Film Festival in march. It looks as good as Helvetica – and I’m thrilled about Jonathan Ives ( from apple) smooth voice in the beginning of the video. Mmmh. It would be rather nice to have tickets for the festival.

“Objectified is a documentary about industrial design; it’s about the manufactured objects we surround ourselves with, and the people who make them. On an average day, each of us uses hundreds of objects. (Don’t believe it? Start counting: alarm clock, light switch, faucet, shampoo bottle, toothbrush, razor…) Who makes all these things, and why do they look and feel the way they do? All of these objects are “designed,” but how can good design make them, and our lives, better?” -Gary Hustwit

Coffee schizophrenic Cristoph Niemann

A colleague from Ritzau recently introduced me to Cristoph Niemann. He is a illustrator based in Berlin after many years in New York City. Currently he is blogging on what he calls Abstract City Blog. One of his most popular posts I LEGO N.Y is by now on almost every blog on the internet and it’s brilliant. He’s done so many other things I like. For example the coffee drawing above from a café in Paris. It’s so cool and must be a fun way to kill time when waiting in a coffee bar, don’t you think? See more coffee drawings and the story behind
Besides that, he is a SUPER cool illustrator. Christoph Niemann’s illustrations have appeared on the covers of The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine and American Illustration. His work has won numerous awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Art Directors Club and American Illustration. See his website and his blog on The New York Times

A glass and a half full of joy

A few weeks ago i had the pleasure of enjoying a cup of coffee with an old friend from school. She is now studying at Grafisk Højskole in Denmark. We were talking marketing and commercials, and went over a couple of really cool viral-videos on youtube. The quicksilver team who surfed on Sortedams søen, Flegaards naked woman and then this one, witch i think is pretty amazing. Unfortunately because of copyright problems, the Phill Collins song is changed on the youtube shared videos – I found the original one on vimeo.

Ads of the World GOLD

This ad won gold in best print over at Ads of the world. Its so clever and simple. It made my laugh. Remember not to check out DM9DDB’s website – it is a great example of a new wave of “oversmart” sites. Why does everything have to be so annoying, 3D and floating? Make it simple and easy to consume. Look at their portfolio anyway, maybe its just me having a bad monday.

Without music, life would be a mistake

Au Design Project and Yamaha Design Laboratory are working together trying to bring musical instruments into our mobilephones. Check out their products and be sure to view the videos, though the loading time is a bit long. Talking about music and phones, the iphone popped into our head. My brother and I fell over some pretty amazing apps in Itunes store. Yamaha and Au might be a bit behind in their project? This dude is playing Pink Floyd using the Iphone application Pocket Guitar.
